  3.    Kepler's laws of planetary motion and Copernicus's
  4. heliocentric (sun centered) model of the solar system
  5. were verified by Isaac Newton when he wrote his laws
  6. of universal gravitation in the "Principia" (1687).
  7.    Newtonian physics explained that the earth and the
  8. other planets revolve around the sun because of the
  9. sun's gravity.
  10.    Newton's laws also served to explain the physical
  11. force (or phenomena) behind Kepler's laws of 
  12. planetary motion.
